Location: Piccadilly Circus, London

Having completed projects for Hard Rock International in Brussels, Glasgow as well as the Hard Rock Hotel franchise in London, Galgorm Group were very pleased to be trusted to continue working for this mammoth global brand for this site in Piccadilly.

Designed by SSA in Tampa Florida by Ken Schwartz and his talented team of foodservice designers, this designs for this site are based around a new style of restaurant being rolled out by Hard Rock which include an open-fronted kitchen. Sited on level -2 of the Criterion building in the heart of London's Piccadilly Circus, the refrigeration plant was too far to run to the roof of the building, so it was decided to place it on -4 via a water cooled pack system. This intricate pack refrigeration system controls the cooling of 4no. cold rooms, 2no. custom fabricated chefs counters and lockers, 2no. ice machines and 2no. bottle coolers in the bar.

Being a site in on of the UK busiest tourist centres it was very important not only to install the correct equipment for the job, but also to have the correct service back-up in the event of a failure. The prime cooking equipment on this project follows on the well-trusted combination of Electrolux XP900 series cooking equipment, Frymaster frying suites, Rational combi ovens and a living flame pizza oven from Beech Ovens. The intricate cold room installation, including the pack system, fell onto Williams Refrigeration; and the canopies were manufactured and installed by Halton Foodservice. All ware washing on site is installed and maintained Winterhalter UK, who have 3no. Masterpiece glasswashers, an STR rack conveyor with Energy + heat recovery and a PT-XL machine with Climate + heat recovery.

This was another great project to be involved on with the Hard Rock International brand, and their trusted team of consultants and designers. It was a new challenge co-orinating the pipework from -4 to land where required on -2 to service all of the refrigeration equipment, but with the team involved it was comfortably achieved.
